Races

Drakkin

The sixteenth playable race on Crushbone. Veeshan-blooded descendants of humans with scale-touched skin and draconic affinity.

Drakkin are the sixteenth playable race on Crushbone — descendants of humans altered by Veeshan's breath generations ago, now marked by scale-pattern skin and draconic resonance. Canonical EverQuest introduced Drakkin in The Serpent's Spine (post-PoP), past Crushbone's Classic-through-PoP era lock. Crushbone chooses to keep Drakkin accessible as a sixteenth race because it ties into server-original lore — see Keepers of the Way.

Where Drakkin come from

Drakkin awaken in the Nexus with no memory of their prior life. They find clothing, a medallion of a dragon-scale clan (chosen at creation), and the instinct to travel. Some make their way to Crushbone's wider world; some stay near the Nexus.

On Crushbone, Saraeth — the Drakkin Keeper of the Way — tends to new Drakkin arrivals. She doesn't remember her own arrival either, but she keeps a Ledger of Wakings documenting each new Drakkin. Her role is to meet new players of the race and record them.

Available classes

On Crushbone's custom rules, any class. Canonical Drakkin class list from EverQuest lore — Bard, Cleric, Enchanter, Magician, Monk, Necromancer, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Shadow Knight, Shaman, Warrior, Wizard — is preserved as recommendation, but the engine accepts any class roll.

Racial traits

  • Medium frame. Fits most indoor dungeons.
  • Infravision.
  • Breath weapon — a Drakkin-specific racial ability tied to their chosen dragon-clan lineage. Variants include flame breath, frost breath, lightning breath, poison breath, and disease breath.
  • Stat baseline: balanced — not as strong as Ogre, not as dexterous as Wood Elf, but no critical weaknesses either.

Starting location

Unique among Crushbone races: Drakkin start in the Nexus (technically Plane of Knowledge on the race-class-deity matrix), not in a traditional racial home city. They have no race-specific city faction to worry about — which makes off-combo Drakkin characters easier to play than most custom-combos.

Lore on Crushbone

The Drakkin connection to Veeshan's breath predates the Planes of Power era in canonical EQ lore (Veeshan herself is Classic-era). Crushbone treats the Drakkin awakening-without-memory as the defining racial mystery. Even seasoned players who roll Drakkin can't definitively say why they appeared — Saraeth's Ledger of Wakings is the only running record.

The "sixteenth name" — the phrase the Keepers of the Way use — refers specifically to the Drakkin Keeper (Saraeth) and, by extension, to every Drakkin player who becomes part of the Keepers lore.

Play note

Drakkin are a great choice for players who want to try custom combos without the faction grind. Because Drakkin don't have a traditional racial home city with guards who hate off-alignment outsiders, a Drakkin Paladin or Drakkin Necromancer faces less starting-faction hostility than (for example) a Troll Paladin would.

Starting stats

Drakkin base stats: STR 80 / STA 90 / DEX 75 / AGI 90 / INT 85 / WIS 80 / CHA 75 — the highest total of any race on the server (575) and well-rounded by design. The 25 bonus points route by class:

Class Final primary stat at creation
Warrior STA 115
Paladin / Shadow Knight STA 110 (hybrid 20-point bonus)
Ranger DEX 95 (hybrid 20-point bonus)
Monk / Rogue / Berserker STR 105
Bard / Enchanter CHA 100
Wizard / Magician / Necromancer INT 110
Cleric / Druid / Shaman / Beastlord WIS 105

Before the 2026-04-24 P2 balance patch, every Drakkin regardless of class rolled with STA+25 — a Drakkin Enchanter got STA 115 and CHA 75. Fixed by per-class allocation templates that keep the Drakkin canonical base stats exactly the same and only change where the 25 points go. The 2026-04-25 P3 patch retired aid 94 as a generic caster fallback for non-Drakkin races (Barb/Dwarf/Troll/Ogre/Halfling) — Drakkin's own caster aid is unchanged. See Stat Allocation Patches.
