Classes
Beastlord
Beast + shaman-lite hybrid — Luclin's melee answer to kiting.
Beastlords are the Luclin-era melee-pet hybrid. They melee alongside a permanent warder (racial flavor pet), cast shaman-lite spells (slow, buff, heal), and cover most of the Ranger's utility role for evil-side races. The Beastlord is the only playable class not in the Classic set — it arrived in Luclin, and Crushbone's era includes it.
Role
The Beastlord is melee DPS + pet + utility caster. A Beastlord hits acceptably, their warder hits acceptably, and together with slow/haste/heal spells they are a self-contained duo. In groups, they DPS and offer slow (weaker than Shaman slow).
Key abilities
- Warder (pet) — racial pet, permanent, summoned on death. Cat/bear/spider/wolf by race.
- Slow — weaker than Shaman's but still useful in groups without a Shaman.
- Haste / Strength buffs — self + pet melee enhancement.
- Nature-line heals — small heals, self and pet.
- Feral Swipe / Bite of the Asp — melee DoT/proc skills.
- Kaz'ing / Kazzi (AA) — pet-replace buffs.
Primary weapon paths
Beastlords dual-wield with claws, short spears, and slashing. Beastlord epic 1.0 is Spirit of the Howler (wolf pet clicky).
Group fit
Groups without a Shaman welcome a Beastlord for the slow and pet. Groups with a Shaman welcome a Beastlord for the DPS. Solo-friendly but not as strong as Druid or Necro.
Solo
Strong. Melee + pet tag-team. A Beastlord can clear any outdoor zone up to their level, and a Troll or Iksar Beastlord adds regen that extends camps indefinitely.
Leveling path summary
- 1–15: Native city. Iksar in Cabilis, Vah Shir in Shar Vahl, Barbarian in Halas, Troll in Grobb, Ogre in Oggok.
- 15–30: Newbie-yard extension. Lake of Ill Omen (Iksar), Paludal (Vah Shir), Innothule (Troll).
- 30–45: Sol A/B or Kunark mid-zones.
- 45–60: Chardok, Karnor's, Sebilis.
- 60–65: PoP melee pool + utility slot.
Play note
Iksar Beastlord with wolf warder is the most common Beastlord build. Vah Shir with tiger warder is lore-perfect. Barbarian Beastlord pairs with bear. Ogre and Troll both get bears. Race matters for aesthetic and starting-city logistics more than for mechanical advantage.
Patron deity
- The Tribunal — Barbarian / neutral.
- Cazic-Thule — Troll / Iksar / Ogre.
- No-deity options exist for some racial paths.
