Classes

Cleric

The healer. Resurrect, buff, full HP bar for your tank. Every group wants one.

Clerics are the primary healing class on Norrath. A Cleric's spell book is dominated by healing, buffing, and resurrection lines. In PoP-era raiding the Cleric is not optional — every raid force brings at least two.

Role

The Cleric is the main healer. Complete Heal (level 39) is the game-defining cleric spell — a full heal that scales to any tank's HP pool. Heal-chains are the Cleric's raid choreography.

Key abilities

  • Complete Heal (39) — full HP restore, long cast time. The raid healing staple.
  • Divine Arbitration (Cleric AA) — splits remaining HP evenly across party.
  • Symbol / Aegolism lines — HP buffs that stack across classes.
  • Resurrection — 96% XP res at high levels. The reason a Cleric is welcome at every funeral.
  • Stun — interrupt caster mobs and certain named.

Primary weapon paths

Clerics use blunt weapons by deity and class lore. The Greater Divine Stave, the Ultimate Edge of Scarlet, and the classic Sledge of Smite are all cleric weapons. Epic 1.0 is the Water Sprinkler of Nem Ankh.

Group fit

The Cleric is the single most requested class in EverQuest from level 5 to level 65. Main healer for groups, main healer for raids, and the primary buff-bot outside of raid (Enchanters handle the mana side, Shamans handle stats, Clerics handle HP and resists).

Solo

Clerics solo by root-and-nuke and by melee-with-buffs. Neither is fast, but both work. The Cleric's advantage in solo is that they never die to attrition — self-HoTs, self-heals, and self-Symbols extend solo camps indefinitely.

Leveling path summary

  • 1–15: Starting city and safe greens. Build out stun and heal lines.
  • 15–30: Befallen, Blackburrow, Lower Guk. Group healing practice.
  • 30–45: Sol B, Mistmoore, Lower Guk. Complete Heal (39) transforms every camp you touch.
  • 45–60: Karnor's Castle, Velk's, Seb. Ice Comet-tier groups require CH chains.
  • 60–65: PoP raids. Your job is the CH chain and the Divine Arbitration emergency press.

Play note

Cleric XP groups are slower than melee groups — your DPS contribution is low and your role is preventive. This is why Cleric groups pay priority (tradition: Cleric gets a 5% XP bonus or first-on-loot in many camps). Expect to be asked where you are. Expect to be waited for.
