Classes
Paladin
Holy knight — heals, buffs, turn-undead, flash stun.
Paladins are the holy hybrid — plate-armored knights who cast priest spells, lay healing hands, and stun undead on demand. They tank second-best (after Warriors), heal second-best (after Clerics and Druids), and carry the most group utility of any non-Bard class.
Role
The Paladin is a off-tank and utility knight. Complete role coverage: they can main-tank any single-mob camp, off-tank raid mobs, heal as emergency, buff symbol lines, stun casting mobs, and Lay Hands (full-heal once per day reset) to save anyone on low HP.
Key abilities
- Lay Hands — once per real-time rest, full-heal any target.
- Stun — interrupt caster mobs. Paladin stuns hit through anti-stun immunity on many undead.
- Symbol of Marzin / Ryltan / Naltron — HP buff lines from the Paladin spellbook.
- Slay Undead — critical hit chance vs undead targets. PoP's Plane of Hate is a Paladin DPS showcase.
- Flash of Light — low-level undead stun-blind. Still useful at 60.
Primary weapon paths
Paladins use 1h+shield or 2h weapons. Iconic: Ghoulbane (Classic), Fiery Defender (epic 1.0), Firefall Bo Staff (high-level), and the Soulsever (Kunark undead slayer). The epic 1.0 quest chain — a reason to visit every good-aligned continent — is itself part of the class identity.
Group fit
A Paladin fits every group. Melee groups get a DPS-tank. Caster groups get an off-tank and emergency healer. Undead-heavy zones (Kithicor night, Mistmoore, Plane of Hate) treat Paladins as raid-DPS.
Solo
Moderate. Paladin solo via stun-and-heal and tank-with-self-buff. Slower than the true solo classes (Druid, Necro, Shaman), but attrition-proof. A Paladin rarely dies solo.
Leveling path summary
- 1–15: Starting city newbie yard. Build up Symbol line and stun.
- 15–30: Blackburrow, Najena, Crushbone (for good-side races). Undead starts mattering here.
- 30–45: Mistmoore, Sol B, Lower Guk, Kithicor (night).
- 45–60: Chardok, Karnor's, Seb. Slay Undead changes everything.
- 60–65: PoP. Main tank for some fights, off-tank for most, Slay Undead in Hate.
Play note
The Dwarf Paladin of Brell is the most iconic Paladin build — mountain heritage, Brell's symbol line, Kaladim bind. Human Paladin of Marr (good side) and High Elf Paladin of Tunare are equally valid and lore-rich. Avoid rolling a Paladin for solo-only play — the class is built for groups.
Patron deity
- Mithaniel Marr — primary; truth, honor, valor.
- Erollisi Marr — love, devotion.
- Rodcet Nife — life, healing.
- Brell Serilis — Dwarf paladins of the underworld.
