Corpse Recovery
How to retrieve your gear after death. Binds, summons, and rez etiquette.
When your character dies in EverQuest, your corpse remains at the death location with your gear. Your character respawns at your bind point, naked except for starting gear. You must return to the corpse to retrieve equipment.
The core problem
- Bound in Qeynos.
- Died at the bottom of Lower Guk.
- Your gear is at the bottom of Lower Guk. You are in Qeynos.
- You must run from Qeynos to Lower Guk, naked, and pick up your corpse.
This is the corpse run, one of EverQuest's defining experiences.
Recovery options
Solo corpse run
Unbuff, unfeared, naked character runs from bind to death site. Pray you don't die again.
Summoning
- Necromancer Summon Corpse — Necromancer-only class spell that summons a corpse from a distance.
- Shadow Knight Summon Corpse — SK has the same spell, different name.
If you have a Necromancer or SK friend who can zone-in to the death location and summon your corpse out, you can recover gear without a naked run.
Resurrection
- Cleric Resurrection — recovers 96% of lost XP.
- Paladin Resurrection (lower percentage, lower-level spell).
- Shadow Knight / Necromancer res — variants.
Clerics are in high demand for rez duty. Tip your rez cleric if they're a stranger.
Rez etiquette
- Wait patiently. Don't spam requests.
- Offer tip / group XP / favor.
- Don't log out before your rez. Corpses decay; they only last so long.
Corpse decay
- Raid-scale corpses can last 7 days.
- Regular corpses ~5 days.
- Don't let your corpse decay. Recover within 24-48 hours.
On Crushbone
Corpse mechanics are canonical. No auto-summon, no pay-to-recover. The server embraces the corpse-run as a core game element.
